Those of use who have made up links in our webpages know that it is easy to make an error, and have the link not work.
Pictures, too can present problems, as it is best if the picture is either centered, or has text at the side of it - this can give a nice professional look.
When visiting a commercial website, my own expectations are higher. If I click on 'contact us' I expect to get contact information, not a message telling me I am forbidden to view the page, or a 404 not found page.
But, if I am provided with a link (and I love it when I am provided with one rather than having to type one up - in fact I even avoid advertising suppliers who get me to make up links, especially as some of them require more than one link) I expect it to work.
Another issue is with link text. Some suppliers must have comedians working for them when it comes to deciding the text that shows up for the link. The instruction, like the rules, are generally specific in that the link text must be exactly as stated. And then they have stuff like :
'Wonderful Life Great Movie In Chicago on June 21' (not an actual example) and I am supposed to make a sentence that makes sense that contains that specific phrase!
One supplier in particular was so bad that my missus had to stop using them. They would give vague or incorrect information, and then once the post was done for a while, would reject the blog entry due to it using exactly what they stated they wanted, which of course was actually incorrect. Even the rejection was vague, and any attempt to get clarification would result in them appearing to get annoyed.
At the same time, looking at it from another point of view, we all make errors, and fortunately most people are sensitive to that fact.
For instance, I have found that the popular PayPerPost has only one snag, and that is too many people all trying to grab the opportunities, and slowing the system down. Frustrating, but a true sign of a great supplier.
