There is an ad on TV here in Canada where people are being interviewed and saying how much money they saved on stuff for their houses, such as kitchen cupboards etc.
Now, I am, I guess of 'ordinary' wealth, and watching this makes even me feel a little guilty.
These people speak of saving $10,000 on the kitchen remodelling and such things.
$10,000 !!!!!!!!!! SAVINGS, not the cost!
Anyway, it got me thinking how obscene this global situation is, where on one continent you can have people working in slave-like conditions, and across the ocean there are people saving ten grand on a kitchen.
At probably ten to twenty grand as the actual cost of a kitchen where ten grand was saved, I would consider not having any kitchen, and just attending restaurants for meals!
The amazing thing is that if you were to ask the people who have these kitchens whether or not they are truly happy, you would very likely find out that they were not. Now, I am not saying that the people in slave-like conditions are happier, but I believe that there is a point where wealth becomes so great in amount, and therefore imbalanced in reality, that it becomes something that should not be either admired, nor sought after.
