So, after my previous comments about the manners of George Bush, he surprises me (as he does only occasionally) by not only correcting the previous faux pas, (I hope my French is correct!) but by making valid points, this being during an interview on NBC from Beijing.
It was the interviewer who brought up the political stuff this time around, and for a second I thought I might have some more anti-Bush fodder for my blogging! It was not to be. Mr Bush made all the valid points that would show commonsense, yet without backtracking on his human rights stance, the same commonsense that in my opinion is not a regular attribute of politicians in general, except perhaps Fidel Castro.
His point was that the USA must keep things open with China as well as older foes such as Russia.
He also by doing this tempered his previous comments by taking a stance of insisting upon frankness in USA's comments about what other countries are doing.
I believe he did make one verbal 'typo' when he referred to the President of Georgia, but I might have misheard - should have recorded that one! Anyway, we have come to expect that type of error, it is almost endearing.
Well done George !
